Prekindergarten:
Learning to Operate Successfully in a Group
while Maintaining Autonomy

The Warren-Walker School three through five-year-old prekindergarten program is comprised of several small classes taught by our highly trained and experienced faculty.  The solid and well-developed curriculum, while  encouraging self-confidence, independence, and good character traits, also teaches the children how to participate successfully in a group setting, establishes a broad foundation of knowledge, and teaches the prerequisite skills necessary for success in our academic kindergarten.  Class assignments are made based on age and developmental needs.

The children enjoy listening to stories, dressing up,  "acting," and  sharing feelings, thoughts, and personal experiences.  "Sharing" is a big part of the excitement of prekindergarten!  The younger students love to share special things from home, while the older children share items related to the Letter of the Week. The days are full of hands-on experiences, with a special activity reserved for Fridays.

Birthday parties, holiday parties, special events and field trips are very exciting times for a prekindergartner!  In the fall, prekindergarten students  and  their sixth grade buddies head to the pumpkin patch to take a hay ride, enjoy farm animals at the Petting Zoo, and pick out and bring home a pumpkin.  Each year the children attend a play and visit either a ranch or a zoo.  The teachers present a very special personalized photo and poetry album as a gift to each student and his/her parents at the end of the school year depicting the child at work and play in a group while developing as an individual.
