Gulls on the Go! Alumni Spotlight: Ryan Bastuba (Class of 2016)

Ryan attended Coronado High School after having graduated from Warren-Walker School in 2016.  Once  he graduated from Coronado in 2020, he was accepted to and is presently attending Barrett, The Honors College at Arizona State University, where he is majoring in Technological Entrepreneurship and Management.

Ryan’s entrepreneurial journey began while still in high school when he began reading and studying different types of business models; he would watch videos on YouTube and read books about launching businesses. Eventually, he came across a video that introduced him to the Amazon FBA (Fulfillment by Amazon) business model and began to research it extensively.

Amazon FBA involves finding products that aren’t profitable and have low competition. After several months of research, Ryan found a viable product and began sourcing it from manufacturers.  After several months of product development, which included keyword optimization, listing photo optimization, SEO, and graphic design work, his first product was being produced and ready to be shipped to Amazon. His final product shipped to Amazon in December of 2019, was launched, and became available for sale.  He has since continued to expand to various different products.

According to Ryan, “My main philosophy with this endeavor was a commitment to an end goal.  It was very important for me to see both the present and future of each product launch in order to stay committed and dedicated to working towards that goal.  It may sound cliche, but I believe it is important to do what makes you happy and interests you.  I enjoyed every step of the process and did not see it as work.  I woke up every morning eager to jump on my laptop and get designs done or do product research.  Leverage your strongest interests as a leading factor towards success.”

We are so proud that Ryan is a WWS graduate doing extraordinary things!!!
