We believe in tradition, and certainly honor our legacy of educational excellence. However, we also seek new ways to better accomplish what we strive to do. A key to being accredited through the Western Association of Schools and Colleges was to demonstrate a commitment to improve. To me, that doesn't mean trying every new-fangled thing that comes around in the world of education. It means maintaining an open mind, staying abreast of new programs and instructional trends, reading the research on new methodologies and practices, and then and only then, carefully selecting and implementing what we believe will work with our students in our environment.
Professional growth is important to innovation, and this year Warren-Walker has a leading role in San Diego County's first all-private school Conference Day which will take place on March 9, 2015. Faculty, staff, and administration from eighteen local schools - from Del Mar Pines to Chabad Hebrew Academy in Scripps Ranch and Francis Parker School to Pacific Ridge in Carlsbad - will gather to share, instruct, and analyze information about all facets of what makes up the best schools. In particular, I will be on a team organizing workshops - of which several will be presented by Warren-Walker School faculty - and Mr. Volker will work with the group seeking a keynote speaker.
Collaboration like this will ensure we accomplish the "just right" amount of innovation for the success of our students in San Diego private schools, now and in the future.
