As if the volatile nature of what we’ve had to endure as adults regarding the national political scene over the last couple of months (read year) is not enough, we who deal with children at the most sensitive time in their growth and development see manifestations of stress at times like this.
Therefore, please turn the volume down; in fact until next Wednesday, turn it off. Why is this appeal made? Here’s why…
The youngest among us notice that grownups aren’t being very nice to one another. Children a bit older notice that mom and dad seem worried about the future of our country, and the pre-teen age group takes to heart the growing skepticism about what lies ahead for them.
Thank goodness the World Series gave us a bit of a respite, but as adults we’ll be “thrown back in to it” through our portable devices, computers, televisions, and radios until next Tuesday. During that time, seize the opportunity to “Turn the Volume Down. Our kids don’t need any more stress - more than ever they need to concentrate on being kids!
