With Spring Break just a joyful memory, we are moving on into big ideas, lots of field trips, celebrations for the artistic endeavors of our students, and culminating projects, with standardized testing and Spirit Week on the horizon. Everything that has been accomplished during the first three quarters synthesizes and comes to fruition in a fourth quarter whirl of exploration and creativity.
Given their students’ progress, teachers have planned mufti-faceted units incorporating the use of newly established skills to inspire students to think independently, choose thoughtfully, and create wholeheartedly. Ingenuity and innovation are highly regarded, and while learning so much and putting in so much effort, students are receptive to fresh ideas to encourage them to take some risks, as well.
The hope is that they generate unique reports and projects of which they can be proud and have strongly reinforced the content so that they remember and understand it forever. In the process, they will have also learned that inventiveness and determination lead to enduring, and often powerful, results.
